TRIBUTE TO SEPTEMBER 11th

Lights 9/11 Memorial - is a tribute of remembrance and honor to the nearly 3,000 people killed in the terror attacks of September 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center site, near Shanksville, Pa., and at the Pentagon, as well as the six people killed in the World Trade Center bombing in February 1993. The Memorial's twin reflecting pools are each nearly an acre in size and feature the largest manmade waterfalls in the North America. The pools sit within the footprints where the Twin Towers once stood. The names of every person who died in the 2001 and 1993 attacks are inscribed into bronze panels edging the Memorial pools, a powerful reminder of the largest loss of life resulting from a foreign attack on American soil and the greatest single loss of rescue personnel in American history. You will have free time at South Street Seaport for lunch and before heading home visit the Tribute WTC Visitor Center.

FleetWeek The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum complex at park-like Pier 86 is a dynamic, interactive experience. The result of an extensive, two-year transformation, Intrepid now features spectacular interactive exhibits, newly opened areas and the latest in virtual, multi-sensory and video-display technology.

Fleet Week - Celebrate Fleet Week at the Intrepid Museum complex, and tour other Navy and Coast Guard ships, as they visit New York Harbor. Enjoy special performances from Broadway casts. Don't miss out as the military branches battle each other in the famous 'Tug of War' and 'Stem to Stern Relay Race'. Be sure to watch Fleet Week's most "heated" contest, as chefs from the visiting ships compete for the title of 'Best Chow'. Visit military displays on pier 86 from all branches of the armed forces, concerts and so much more! Join us for the annual Memorial Day ceremony on the flight deck of Intrepid and the unfurling of the 100ft long American Flag.

AMERICAN MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY

Hall of Biodiversty American Museum of Natural History: The Natural History of our planet and its species are revealed in more than 40 exciting exhibition halls, which covers 4 floors. These range from life in the sea, to the cultures of the 7 continents to gems and minerals.

Rose Center for Earth and Space: Includes a new, state-of-the-art Hayden Planetarium featuring the most technologically advanced Space Theater in the world; the Cullman Hall of the Universe; and the Goettesman Hall of Planet Earth. The major architectural component of the Rose Center is a massive sphere, some ninety feet in diameter that will seem to float in a cubic, glass-walled enclosure. The sphere contains the new Hayden Planetarium: its top half houses the most technologically advanced Sky Theater in the world, while its bottom half houses the " Big Bang Theater," which presents a dramatic re-creation of the events that occurred during the first moments of the history of the universe. Above, below and around the sphere are exciting new exhibits explaining important principles of astronomy and astrophysics.

STATUE OF LIBERTY & ELLIS ISLAND

Statue of Liberty Ellis Island Statue of Liberty National Monument: The Statue of Liberty National Monument was completed on October 28, 1886. From the base to the top of the torch, she is 151 feet high. The exterior structure of the Statue is made of copper and the interior support structure is made of steel. Her official name is "Liberty Enlightening the World."

Ellis Island: The Ellis Island Immigration Museum is an important and iconic part of America's history. Over 12 million passed through the island while it was in operation. Today, more than 40% of Americans have an ancestor who entered the country through Ellis Island.

FEAST OF SAN GENNARO

The 86th Annual Feast of San Gennaro, New York City's longest-running, biggest and most revered religious outdoor festival in the United States, on the streets of historic Little Italy, the lower Manhattan neighborhood which served as the first home in America for hundreds of thousands of Italian immigrants who came here seeking to improve their lives beginning in the early part of the 20th century.

More than 35 of Little Italy's most famous Italian restaurants roll out the red carpet for Feast visitors, and many provide outdoor dining facilities for the event, offering a variety of Italian specialty foods and pastries. Some restaurants even have strolling musicians to entertain their customers.
